The best handmade gift I have ever gotten: I love a lot of pretty awesome handmade gifts so I will share two favorites: My engagement ring. My husband folded an origami butterfly ring out of silvery paper and gave me that when he proposed. I also have a carved and painted tiny wooden giraffe that my dad made for my mom when they were dating/newlyweds. Last year for Christmas, my mom decided that the little giraffe needed to come stay with me.
The handmade gift I am proudest of: Usually that is the last thing I finished. So right now I am proudest of a beautiful lace cowl I made for my friend Lynn’s birthday. She is a pretty stellar knitter, so I worked really hard to make sure it would be something she would love.

I am most proud of a mug rug that I designed and made for a swap. It was two appliqued birds wearing santa hats on a snowy pieced background. I loved it so much that I think I’ll make one for myself!
Most proud of was the first project I successfully crocheted as a youngster. It was a rabbit and I gave it away to a family that had moved here and had a small child. (Part of me wishes I’d kept it, shhhh.)
I crocheted a big afghan for hubby! I’m always making gifts to giveaway and he always thinks he should get one too. So I made one for him and he loves to use it. :)

I made the Birthday Party Dress by Oliver + S last year for a friends’ daughter’s first birthday. I was very proud of it and still am as it was the first 100% garment I’ve ever made. I even used French Seams for the first time. It took me three months but I got through it!! haha.
Macaroni wreath made by my son. I loved his face when he gave it to me the most!
My BFF made me a Christmas ornament the year I got married and it is still on my tree! Love it!
I received a hand painted daisy canvas (my favorite flower) from an old high school friend for my wedding…it is so special to me that she took the time (and remembered that I loved daisies!) for me!
Great book! I love the ornament that my six year old made in art class for kindergarten. It was a Christmas ornament with her handprint on it!
A scarf knitted by a sweet friend last year.
I crocheted baby blankets for my nephews when they were born, and they were very well recieved by my sister-in-law. :)
I received this beautiful hand embroidered pillow from my aunt. She had it nearly done for the past 20 years or so before just finishing it up this year. I got it for my birthday and it sits on my desk chair when not in use. I see it everyday.
The best handmade gift I’ve received is the bed frame that my husband made when we got married. We had access to a wood lot before it was burned off and had such fun picking out just the right twisty logs to make the frame. The funny part of the story is that there was apparently a pine beetle snuggled down in one of them, because one evening a few months after we were married, we were sitting up reading in bed and then heard a weird grinding sound followed by a small spray of sawdust and an escaping insect! It left behind a perfectly round hole that still makes me smile.
Thanks and Merry Christmas!
I am proudest when I make something I have never done before. This year it is a simple infinity scarf to give my niece.
I’m happy to have finally made my husband a quilt. He was one of the last in our family (extended) to get one.

quilts for the babies in my life! my favorite is my sons, simple with green and yellow on white. i am more attached to it than he is!
The handmade gift I am most proud of was a knit hat I made for my husband. He had shown me the Jayne hat online, and asked if I could do that, and I said I didn’t think I was a good enough knitter. He said ok and pretty much forgot about it. My grandmother had been teaching me to knit every year for about ten years; this was the year that it stuck! I focused harder than I ever had until I really had it down, and then I made that Jayne hat and it was perfect, AND he was surprised, which is really hard to do. I make a lot of gifts each year but I still haven’t topped that one.
The best handmade gift I’ve ever received was a painting my daughter did of my sister. My sister died almost 22 years ago and my daughter never met her, but the painting is amazing!
I love making taggie blankets for the little babies
My favorite handmade gifts are the little Christmas ornaments my daughters made for me when they were in elementary school from pine cones, popsicle sticks, etc. I still have all of them!
the best handmade I received were afghans made by my grandmother and aunt.

The best handmade gift I have ever given was a stuffed dragon I just made for my daughter (and gave to her tonight … it’s her 5th birthday today!). She is from Vietnam, so she is fascinated with Vietnamese dragons. She fell asleep tonight cuddling her new friend!
My favorite handmade gift was from my mom. She sewed and cross stiched a bag for me with my name on it when I was in kindie. I still have it till today! And I just recently made her a reversible bag which I’m totally proud of. I’m new in this craft and I so totally wanna grow up to be like my mommy! :)
