2024-03-28T21:09:32-05:00, |Comments Off on Strawberry Needle Book

Spend an hour each week stitching in this fun hand embroidery sampler class, held online via Zoom. We are going to make wool felt needle books, a classic sewing notion to store your needles and pins. You can choose from three different designs: Dog, Cat or Rabbit.

This is an 11 week class, starting April 11, 2024. Class will be held Thursdays from 12-1 pm Central time. NOTE: This is the live Zoom version of the class. Your registration in this live version also includes access to the pre-recorded on-demand version of this class. The on-demand lessons parallel the live class, so if you need to miss a live session or need a refresher, you can catch up with the recorded version. Instructions on how to access the recorded sessions will be provided at the first class session. Class dates: April 11, 18, 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23, (no class May 30), June 6, 13, 20, 27.

Each week, you will learn a new stitch and complete a section of the needle book. The finished books are 2.5 x 3.5 inches with a snap closure and three felt pages for storing needles. The class registration includes a kit to make ONE needle book. Extra kits are available at the link in the right sidebar. Your kit will include wool rayon blend felt, pattern pieces printed on water soluble stabilizer, perle cotton threads in matching colors, snap, needle, sequins. You will need to provide scissors and a glue stick. You do not need embroidery experience for this class. Beginners are welcome! Featured stitches in this project: blanket stitch, figure eight knot, rope stitch, whip stitch, back stitch, pistil stitch, cross stitch.

Live Online Class • Beaded Birds Ornaments

2020-10-29T16:20:01-05:00|Comments Off on Live Online Class • Beaded Birds Ornaments

An online class to make some of my favorite ornaments. These felt birds are based on ones that I made with my mom when I was 2 years old. She cut the felt, I was in charge of the glue. I’ve updated to add some beaded details with metallic beads and sequins and you’ll learn to do two embroidery stitches. Registration deadline is November 30 so that your materials kit can be mailed to you.

Included in the class fee is a materials kit of everything you’ll need for class except scissors. I have put together some of my favorite materials for you:

• wool/rayon felt

• gold and iridescent sequins, metallic copper beads

• perle cotton embroidery thread

• needle

• stuffing

• and a couple of tools and handout to help you make an awesome bird.

REGISTER HERE.

Once you’ve registered I will mail you the materials kit and email the Zoom link so you can join the live part of the class, where I will show you all of the steps to make your ornament. Class will be held Thursday December 10 • 6-8 pm Central

If you want to make an extra bird or you want to take the class with another person at your same address, then choose the add on and I will put in extra materials for extra participants. This project would be great for ages 10 and up. I recommend that kids attend with an adult to help, but you don’t have to add on extra student/materials for that helper unless that person wants to make ornaments too.
