Garage Sale Treasures

This weekend was the Textile Center’s annual fundraiser, the Garage Sale.  We think it is the worlds largest textile garage sale.  Crowds kept away a little bit because it was rainy/snowy/cold but I got a few treasures.

* A “Lions, Tigers & Leopards” print all in shades of green.

* A Liberty of London paisley (swoon!) This fabric is amazing – finely woven, soft as anything.  I am making a really nice blouse with it.

* Multiple skeins of a couple of pretty wool yarns.

* A nice drapey poly with blue and white polkadots (retro sundress)

* a double knit polyester and a brown and white heavy woven (skirts)

I also forgot to photograph a nice grey with raspberry colored polkadots which will make a great lining for something and 3 nice pieces of plain colored wool in deep sky blue, merlot and black.

The grand total – 11 pieces of fabric (2-4 yards each), 6 skeins of yarn & a handful of vintage silk/poly scarves = $100.

I also donated 4 trashbags full from my studio.  Hooray!

Knit Night

2011-04-01T08:49:42-05:00Out & About|Comments Off on Knit Night

One evening a week, a group of friends and I get together to knit.  Sometimes it involves coffee and treats, sometimes wine.  It all depends on the week.  Sometimes it is spinning, like last night, or mending or hemming.  We have been known to trade projects when our own is misbehaving.  We consult, we show-and-tell, we help with fittings and sometimes we all stuff our projects back in their bags and just talk.  Andy stopped by and took some pictures of us last night on his way home from a rehearsal.  Some of us might have been getting a little silly by this time.

As part of our birthday adventures yesterday, we went to see the King Tut exhibit at the Science Museum.  You can see a little snapshot gallery about the exhibit here.  We spent quite a while in the exhibit, it was fun to see and fun to play hooky from work yesterday.
