Let’s make a pair of small notebooks with embroidered covers. In this online/Zoom class you’ll create two notebooks with Kraftex paper covers. Kraftex is a heavy weight but flexible paper that feels a little like soft leather. It’s washable, so it’s great for holding up to wear and tear on notebook covers and it’s fun to stitch! The notebooks are 3×5 inches each and stitched at the top to make a ledger style book. You will learn an embroidery stitch called the sorbello stitch to embellish the covers; it looks nice from the inside and outside of the page. We’ll tear down drawing paper from larger sheets, creating a torn or deckle edge on each sheet. (This is a great skill you can use to recycle larger sheets of paper for future projects.) It’s the perfect size notebook to keep in your favorite tote bag for lists and notes.

This class includes a materials kit that will be mailed to you. The kit includes everything you will need to complete the project except a pair of scissors and a ruler (see note below). The colors in your kit will include assorted bright and neutral colors to mix and match for two different notebooks. Materials include medium weight drawing paper, kraftex paper, needle, awl, beads, perle cotton thread.

This class is held online via Zoom. You will get the Zoom link in your registration confirmation email. Materials kits are mailed out approximately 1 week before class.

Materials: You will need to provide scissors and a ruler. The ruler should be minimum 12 inches and should be metal or wooden with a metal edge. This is a great example.
