Here’s what you need to do to enter.
1. Make a comment on this post answering this question: What is your favorite handmade object?
(Don’t worry if your comment doesn’t show up right away. I have to approve it first. I will do that whenever I can throughout the day.)
2. Make sure I can contact you. Enter your email address in the comment form. There’s a place for it. It will not be published, so no one but me will see it. I will not send you spam. But I do need a way to contact you if you are a winner.
What is my favorite handmade object? My collection of handmade Christmas ornaments. I have ones made by my mom, sisters, aunts, neighbors, me, my husband, nieces & nephews and friends. Every one has a story. Every one is different.
What can you win?
Three random winners will get a custom alphabet ornament. You tell me the letter you would like and your favorite color. I will make it custom for you. (Those in the picture are keytags, I will put a long ribbon loop on your ornament.)
One random winner will get a copy of the new book, One Yard Wonders! I am a contributor to the book, so I am already a big fan and I have an extra copy. See my post from a few days ago for a tour of the book and my projects. I will sign it for you if you want me to.
The small print.
If you don’t answer the question in your comment or I can’t contact you, your entry is disqualified.
I will ship internationally.
Contest is open until Sunday December 6 at midnight CST. Anybody who comments before then is entered.

I don’t know if this counts as handmade, but my wife’s a painter, and she did a diptych of her and me that hangs over our bed.

My favorite handmade object would have to be one of the many my mom has made me. I especially love the toys that she made me as a child – a wonderful cloth book, that today my son and daughter have enjoyed as well. I hope to do the same with my children as well! Beautiful book, by the way – I am dying to own this one. I’d love the give your laptop sleeve a try – I have a friend in need of one! Thank you for the awesome giveaway and congratulations on seeing your work in print!
The second quilt I ever made remains on my bed to this day and I love it! I’m really interested in the one-yard wonders book — I’m about #167 in the queue for it at my local library!
My favorite handmade object would have to be the 9 patch quilt that put me in labor! Everyone told me to start a REALLY time consuming project and that it will make the baby come…later that night my water broke! ha. Luckily my grandmother stepped in and finished it so I could enjoy my new addition. That quilt will forever be his. :)
I just finished a quilt made with all kinds of Kaffe Fassett fabrics. All I can do is look at it! I’ve been drooling over that book. I visit it at the bookstore every now and then!
You are a contributor to that book? I’m in awe; that book has been on my to-get list since I first heard it was coming out. Way to go!
I can’t say that I have a favorite handmade item overall because I have so many of them, but on my tree is a decoration that I adore because it was something I made when I was 4. It’s in rough shape since it’s 26 years old now, but I love seeing it hang there each and every Christmas.
My favorite handmade object is the Color Wheel, aka, King Arthur’s Roundtable, quilt I made for my son last year.
And I just bought that book for a friend and would love to have my own copy!
Definitely a quilt made by my grandmother. It is my ultimate comfort-giver!
Ooh – I have been ogling that book. How great that you are a contributor!
Is it a cop out to say that my favorite handmade object is anything made for me by a loved one? It is the truth! Favorite thing made by me is probably jam for Christmas presents — there’s a deep satisfaction in rows of shiny jars.
My favorite handmade object is actually a pencil drawing of my son done by my mother-in-law.
I unfortunately do not sew, mainly because my mother-in-law does, and it is easy to get her to do everything for me. :) She would absolutely LOVE to have the book!
My mom loves ornaments, and I would love to give her a customized one this Christmas.
Thanks for the chance to win!
My daughter and I have seen that book. There are lots of great little projects in it. My favorite handmade object is my paintings from my daughter. She is becoming quite the artist. We would love this book and a chance to do more artistic things together. (psst we are giving her a sewing machine for Christmas. Her very first at 10 years old).
I would love this! An E on blue or orange. My son’s favorites. So cute !thanks!
My fave handmade object at the moment is the wool sweater scrap flowers I am making for my three month old niece in the hospital. She was just diagnosed with cancer. you can’t bring fresh flowers to the pediatric oncology floor so I am making a bouquet. Every button I stitch in the center of a flower is a prayer for comfort and healing. Crafting is good therapy. Thanks for hosting this giveway and happy holidays!
My favorite handmade objects are the few pieces of furniture that were built by my husband’s father. Thanks for the chance to win!

My favorite handmade item are my German paper stars that my mom and my aunt made for me to put on my Christmas tree. My great-grandmother made them, but no one ever learned from her how to do it. So, my aunt found someone to teach her and it was a special surprise to open them last Christmas.
My favorite handmade projects are the paintings that I finished while studying abroad in Florence, Italy. I’m definitely not a painter (I was a Biology major), but somehow they turned out beautifully and represent wonderful memories.
Ooh, I’ve been waiting for this book! My favorite handmade item would be handmade handbags! Yep, all of them. I’m pretty hooked on making my own and admiring all of the pretty things other crafty people are coming up with.
My favorite handmade object is the quilt my sister made me for my wedding. I love the colors and the pattern(The Courthouse Steps).
My favorite handmade object is the pumpkin hat my mom knitted at my request for my then unborn daughter. I just love it and it was the first of many hats my mom has knitted for my now three year old. It was just the tiny push my mom needed to get back into being creative again. She hadn’t had an outlet for several years. Now she’s kniting up a storm and just finished her first felted bag to hold…what else all her supplies and current project so she can knit on the go. And I would love either an ornament or the book, it’s already on my holiday wish list!
My grandmother made us a quilted treeskirt last year. She used all 1930’s reproduction holiday fabrics, because she knows that I’m partial to them. I treasure it, because it comes straight from the heart.
my favorite handmade item is the scoop neck vest sweater i knitted myself – i love it !
I have so many handmade things it’s hard to pick, but if I had to I’d say it was one of my knitting bags,
My favorite handmade object is a gift I got from my grandmother 15 years ago. She took a picture of a horse and rider that I had drawn for her, made it into an embroidery pattern, and hand embroidered a beautiful wall hanging for me. She matched all the colors of thread exactly to my original drawing, it looked just the same! It’s something I’ll always treasure!
Some crocheted flowers made by my mom – I try to add them to special gifts made for my boys
Thanks for a chance at the giveaway
My favorite handmade item is a baby quilt my grandmother gave me that has different colored elephants all over it. I can’t wait to put it in my baby’s nursery!
Personalized ornaments are a great idea! Also, that book is on my Christmas list and I’m eager to browse through it and add to my growing to-do list. Down to business: my favorite handmade item is an apron I made for my daughter. It totally plays on my Little House on the Prairie sensibilities.
