That’s it. Pretty simple!
And I want to play along too, since it’s not fair to ask all of you to do all the work, so…
The best handmade gift I have ever gotten: I love a lot of pretty awesome handmade gifts so I will share two favorites: My engagement ring. My husband folded an origami butterfly ring out of silvery paper and gave me that when he proposed. I also have a carved and painted tiny wooden giraffe that my dad made for my mom when they were dating/newlyweds. Last year for Christmas, my mom decided that the little giraffe needed to come stay with me.
The handmade gift I am proudest of: Usually that is the last thing I finished. So right now I am proudest of a beautiful lace cowl I made for my friend Lynn’s birthday. She is a pretty stellar knitter, so I worked really hard to make sure it would be something she would love.

Looks like a great book! Thanks for the give away. I think the handmade gift I remember best is a frog my mum made for me out of fabric, filled with rice. I played with that for a long, long time.
The gift I have always been most proud of I don’t even have a picture of for posterity. When my grandmother became ill at age 90 having broken her leg in a fall on the ice, I made her a lap quilt. She loved that quilt. It kept her warm during a very painful time. That quilt lived on. My sister now has it in a very tattered form, but nonetheless still useful. That quilt is over 30 years old now and still serving my family.
oh how i’d love this book! (i’m currently accumulating library fines with the first one-yard wonders book…shhh…) the gift i’m proudest of at the moment is this cute sunsuit i made for my niece. i’ve seen her in it over 20 times so i know they love it and it’s quite useful for the climate they live in. gift i’ve received: the wedding album my photographer made for us. it was unexpected and absolutely beautiful and i love it.
A friend fell in love with an expensive purse that I made a (close as I could) reproduction of for Christmas. I hope she loves it!
My very fav gift I handmade was a stuffed scottie dog for my son.
all patchy work, lovely, colorful. with a manly bow to finish him off. he loved it, and he was a teen when I gave this to him :)
have a great christmas!

I made some cute make-up bags for Christmas last year. They were the first gifts I made that I felt confident enough to give as a gift
My mom made me a quilt with bears on it, in 1985. I was 3 and just got a “big-girl bed”. I used it for the next 22+ years until I noticed the fabric starting to wear and I decided to put it away for safe keeping. Basically I adore anything my mom ever made me, she’s the reason I craft today.
I have made my very first laceweight shawl with beads as a gift for my daughter. I am very proud of that, even though it is a very simple shawl.
The best hand-made gift I’ve every received was a gorgeous lace shawl/shrug/waistcoat/scarf that a good friend of mine knitted for me. It was in my favourite colour (teal) and used a beautiful soft merino-cashmere yarn. It’s a thing of complete beauty and I was really touched that she made it for me.
Thank you so much for holding this giveaway!
My favorite handmade gift – a super plush scarf knitted with eyelash yarn in black and gray. When I first saw it I thought ‘oh, it’s not me’ but I put it on and loved it! Wear it all the time and love knowing that it’s from my BFF.
i made an adorable jersey cap for a new baby…it was so hard and i love the way it turned out!
My mother made the most amazing costumes when we were kids. Those memories are what inspired me to sew so I can create the same joy for my family.
I love quilts I make for others :)
The best handmade gift I have ever given is a pouch I gave to my grandmother. She uses it everyday, which makes me smile!
i wrote a story for my husband- he was the hero, our children were different characters he met on his adventure, all with traits of our children. He was surprised and still laughs over it months later
im most proud of my “through the ages” quilt
My fave handmade gift ever received was handmade baby quilts for my kids, and a crocheted blanket.
two gifts I’ve made that I’m particularly proud of. a little dress for a friends adopted daughter, at the adoption shower an older lady who handmade all her children’s clothes looked over every seam minutely and pronounced it “perfect”.
a little knitted owl for a friend’s baby. she posted a picture of him with it on facebook as a thank you.
almost every gift from my grandma was hand made and I still have and love most of them. it’s almost like having a bit of her to keep with me.
My favorite is one that I gave, it was a quilt for my husband
I still have the doll that my mum made for me when I was 8. And since I now have grown kids, that should say a lot!!
Best handmade gift I’ve ever received was an afghan made by my best friend’s mother for our wedding. Beautiful forest green, and so soft and warm. Really lovely.
Thanks for the opportunity!
I loved the first book as well. I hope I get lucky.
The best handmade gift I ever made was a cardboard wardrobe that houses my daughters doll clothes for her Dress Me Hello Kitty.
I made my daughter a backpack using a pattern by Made By Rae and a baby doll carrier using a pattern by Oliver + S.
I was 10-years-old and Christmas eve was on a Sunday. Momma said Santa had stopped by early and left a present for me. It was a red wool dress (Momma made it) that I was allowed to wear to the Christmas program that night. I was SOOOOOO happy!
Thanks for the opportunity!
That book is on my Amazon wishlist; I desperately want it; LOVE the first One Yard Wonders book. I like the eight Nature Explorer bags (from the free Chez Beeper Bebe pattern) that I made for my kids and nieces and nephews from my dad’s old work shirts. My dad is really amazing. He’s a good guy.
I made my ex a lovely knitted hat from bamboo yarn, which took some work- bamboo yarn isn’t the stretchyist thing, so all the give and memory had to come from the stitch pattern.
I am proudest of a quilt I made for my baby Nephew. It was the first quilt I made and was a steep learning curve, but I loved it and it got me hooked on the craft.
I’m making all my gifts this year. I’m especially proud of a sweater I knit for my 1 year old nephew–it’s got adorable felt elbow patches and looks so “old man-ish” it’s ridiculous.
I made shirts for my four older sisters. I also made robes for my niece and nephew.
I just finished something I’m pretty proud of too, a lady I met at a craft show saw all my items and asked if I could make her a stocking. I’ve never made one and didn’t use a pattern but I just made one up. It was quilted and everything. She loved it and the ladies at work who I showed said it was amazing. I think I’ll be making more next year!
When I was little, my grandma made me a gigantic stuffed dog that I still have. Most craftiness in my family has skipped a generation..so I dont recieve many handmade gifts..but as far as handmade gifts that I have made…this year I made a huge batch of pumpkin butter for giving away…
I made my mom a quilt, because we pretty much ruined all the quilts her mom made her when we were kids. I can’t wait to give it to her!
The best handmade gift I ever received was a pillow from my Great Grandmother made with Tiger Lily fabric. It was Tiger’s with little Lily hats on, quite hilarious as I was 6 at the time. I still have it :)
Great giveaway! That book looks great :)
I learned to crochet this year and made my daughter a big blanket that I ma giving her for Christmas :)
My favorite gift is a mug rug I received in a swap. I got super lucky and had an amazing artist send me a beautiful gift that I will treasure always.
Thanks for a chance to win.
It would have to be the wedding quilt I made for my son and daughter-in-law. It was only my third quilt, and it turned out great.
I made tote bags from the same pattern for one of my boyfriend’s families during college. They were so cute and they all loved them!
my fav handmade gift are those that my kids give me
I made a super nice bag, once… and can’t find the pattern anymore !!
Thanks for this giveaway ! this book is on my wish list…
My favorite gifts that I’ve made, have been baby gifts for friends. I love seeing their faces when they unwrap the toy/hat/quilt/etc. that I’ve made. I love making handmade items for babies.
I would love a copy of this book! I have checked it out of the library twice already!
Thank you!
I like to make baby quilts to give to people when they have a new baby
Oops. Don’t count me twice. I didn’t answer the question….my favorite handmade gift I made was a super hero cape., not because it was a huge hit, but because it was the first sewn gift I made that felt slightly more complex than previous sewing I had done. And received? Two bags filled with food! Nicola
Best handmade gift I ever received was a blue tulle ballerina skirt that was under the tree — I think about 1965.
Best handmade gift I ever gave was a pink tulle twirly skirt for our goddaughter (about 2004). She loved it! Even better, it gave me a chance to tell my mom (aka Santa’s Helper)how much the blue one meant to me, and that I still treasure the memory after so many years.
most proud of the mermaid dolls i make for presents http://thecraftingfiend.blogspot.com/2011/07/modest-mermaid-doll-patterntutorial.html
I made my sister a cathedral windows pillow recently, so that is definitely my fave handmade gift to give so far.
I’ve been wanting this book! The best handmade gift I’ve made is a highchair/shopping cart cover. It was a lot of work, but it turned out great!
I’m most proud of a quilt I made this year for a friends wedding – it was really hard to give it away as I loved it so much!
I love making socks for friends and giving preserves to go with them. But I have been on a bunting spree so I do enjoy giving those too! I love all handmade gifts. I wish I got more of them!
Oh, so hard to choose. One of the gifts I’m proudest to have given is an aniversary sampler of embroidery, ribbon embroidery & hardanger that I made for my parents. My brother made the frame. They didn’t expect anything like it so were very touched.
And one of the coolest gifts I’ve received is a sofa table my brother made.
