Yellow & Tidbits

We have had so much rain here that there are a lot of these in the yard.

Lots of art in progress and not much to show here yet.

  • I am presenting a seminar on Etsy in two weeks at the International Surface Design Association Conference and Etsy just revamped a whole bunch of things on the site.  I spent tonight doing research.
  • My looms have arrived!  The second batch of little frame looms are here and I will start shipping out my pre-orders tomorrow.  Then they will be in the shop with no waiting.
  • I will have 3 pieces of art in three different exhibitions in June.  Details to come.
  • I just got the coolest piece of fabric from Spoonflower yet! I drafted and printed a skirt with a giant waterlily on it.  Linen/cotton.  Printed so that I just had to cut it out and sew it up.  That’s a sample for a class that I am teaching in just over 2 weeks for the MN Quilters Annual conference.  I am going to wear it to class.

Going to be selling things at a “sheep & wool” festival next weekend. Spent today writing up instructions for the little looms and packaging up my new weaving themed fabric, which I am selling by the fat quarter and it available online at my Spoonflower shop.  Just search for “beckarahn”.

Work in Progress Wednesday

Mostly digital artwork this week.
Updated etsy shop banner and redesigned the front pages for all of my patterns.  Now they look cute no matter what size or aspect ratio they are cropped to in the various views on the site.  I also put together a unified color scheme – 8 colors that coordinate with the banner.

This is a snippet of another piece of art I am working on.  A little Rube Goldberg kind of vibe.  File has been sent off for printing at Spoonflower.

A Fishy Contest – Go Vote!

2009-11-12T18:17:43-06:00Spoonflower & Fabric Design|3 Comments

Spoonflower, my favorite digital fabric printing company, is having a competition.  The rules were pretty simple – design a fabric with fish, and using just 4 specific colors.  “Paisley Fish” above is my entry.  Voting started this morning and you have until Tuesday to choose your favorites.

Go vote!

Of course I want you to vote for my design, but even if you don’t, it is a lot of fun to look at all the entries and how many different things that people came up with.

Spoonflower Shop is Open!

You can now purchase my designs on fabric from Spoonflower!

Go to Becka’s Spoonflower Profile and you can see the 6 designs I have available.  Order a swatch or even several yards to use for your projects.

  • I have 2 designs inspired by 1930’s quilt fabrics.  Myrtle is my favorite.  The colors are warm and cheery.
  • Two are based on my Animal Outlines embroidery designs (which you can find in my etsy shop.)  You could coordinate a hand embroidered t-shirt with a pair of pants all with a wild west theme!  How cool would that be?
  • The oboe print is for Andy.
  • The fishes are because, well just because I always have to have fishes.
  • More on the way soon.
